Piero & Sara 100g sliced
This unique cured pork is named after Pierosara, a small village in the Marche. There is a legend in this village that a young Count met and fell head over heels in love with the young maiden, Sara. However, Sara was in love with and betrothed to another nobleman called Piero. One day the Count kidnapped Sara and a violent fight ensued between the inhabitants of the village and the Count’s men. The Count was forced to surrender and killed the beautiful Sara in the same moment that Piero arrived and attacked the Count. The Count hit Piero with an axe who fell near his beloved Sara, embraced her and breathed his last breath. The village has been known as Pierosara ever since.

Piero & Sara was invented in their honour by local cured meat producers ‘Bonta del Conero’. It consists of two salamis, one (Piero) rolled in cinnamon and the other (Sara) rolled in chilli powder. They are served layered in alternate slices and best appreciated when trying a piece of each at the same time.

About the Producer
The Salumificio del Conero are a group of artisan butchers and meat curers with a wealth of experience. They pride themselves on using only the finest quality pigs, all from the Marche region, but many from their own livestock. Their salamis and other meats are produced using closely guarded traditional recipes that have survived for generations.
