With the Consorzio del Prosciutto di Parma seal, it is a DOP product (Denomination of Protected Origin), meaning that it can only be produced in the fragrant Parma hills. Its slightly nutty flavour is consistent with the Parmigiano Reggiano whey that is required to be in the pigs' diet. It has infinite uses such as sliced and served as an antipasto, wrapped around grissini as a tasty canapé or served in the summertime with some ripe cantaloupe melon.
